In today’s fast-paced world, we’ve lost touch with the simple, meaningful art of conversation. We're often consumed by the fraction of our lives that play out on our screens, or overwhelmed by anxieties beyond our control; rarely pausing to breathe, to be present. But what if we went beyond just creating a space to talk? Imagine a community where music lies at the heart of every interaction - a place that invites us to reflect on the storytelling behind the words of our favourite songs and use it as a mirror into our own lives.

Recently I had the pleasure of being able to preside over such a space when I attended Osas’ first ‘Catch up with O’ event where we had the opportunity to talk and listen to the inspirations and process behind his latest single ‘My Mind’. The evening began with brief introductions where everyone provided an insight into what brought them here, with each answer having the familiar ring of two words. Passion and music. As the night progressed, we heard more about Osas’ journey as his self determination became so apparent that you couldn’t help but feel inspired. Osas touched on the struggles of being an upcoming artist and often turning to those struggles to act as a catalyst for his introspective songwriting.

It was at this point where ‘My Mind’ was previewed to the audience. The melodic rhythm of Osas rich vocals poured into the space, unveiling the emotions tucked away in the corners of our mind. Osas’s voice feels like a dialogue, with lyrics that mirror our inner conflicts; capturing the quiet turmoil that often accompanies our pursuit for greatness. By the end of the song the audience was in awe of the compelling emotion behind the creation of a remarkably raw song - it was powerful.

What stood out to me was Osas’ ability to set his pride aside and have an open and honest conversation about the song with genuine curiosity etched across his face. Osas asked for our thoughts and this was yet another memorable moment, allowing everyone to share diverse perspectives on the song and, in doing so, gain deeper insights into our own identities. In many ways it was an evening of entertainment and enjoyment but also vulnerability as we opened up about our own inner struggles. However, there was beauty in this vulnerability as we all unknowingly relished in the fact that we weren’t alone despite what life would make us believe.

‘My Mind’ is out now!
